Retirement planning built for owners, not employees

A business owner’s retirement has a shape no standard calculator models: income arrives as a mix of W-2 and distributions that stops when you stop; the largest asset is a company worth whatever someone pays on one particular day; a seller note can turn the sale into a decade of income; and the retirement account itself may be funding the business through a ROBS rollover. This tool is built for that: enter the business and the accounts once and get income-stream analysis, sale modelling, ROBS trade-offs, tax analysis and projections across seven dedicated sections.

✓
The business is most of the balance sheet — For most owners it is sixty to ninety per cent of net worth, and its value is an estimate until the day it sells. The sale price and its timing move the plan more than any savings rate — and both are less certain than a market return.
✓
Draws are not a salary — W-2 wages, distributions and K-1 income are taxed differently, create different retirement-plan capacity, and stop differently at exit. The mix you set while operating compounds for as long as you own the business.
✓
A seller note is retirement income — Financing your own sale spreads the gain across years and can lower the effective rate. It also means part of your retirement depends on the buyer running the business well, which is a risk rather than a footnote.
✓
ROBS puts the plan inside the business — Rolling retirement funds into a C corporation avoids tax and the early-withdrawal penalty. It also concentrates everything into one undiversified asset and turns what would have been capital gains at exit into ordinary income.
✓
Social security is built on what you reported — A low-salary, high-distribution strategy saves payroll tax and lowers the benefit. The calculator shows both sides rather than assuming one is right.
✓
The order of the decisions matters — Compensation mix, sale timing, note structure and account drawdown interact. Optimising any one of them alone usually costs more than it saves.
